Introducing Badger Air: the world's first badger-drone delivery fleet
Our badger-shaped drone delivery fleet, announced on 1 April 2025. It has tunnel mode, a thank-you dance, and the small drawback of not existing.

Game-changing delivery technology
Today, Badger Commerce is thrilled to announce our most groundbreaking innovation yet: Badger Air, the world's first badger-shaped drone delivery system, set to revolutionise ecommerce fulfilment forever.
Our engineering team has spent the last 18 months in our underground research facility (affectionately known as The Sett) developing biomimetic drones that look, sound and even move like actual badgers, but with propellers.
How Badger Air works
Our patented BadgerDrones™ combine quadcopter technology with the natural tenacity and problem-solving abilities of actual badgers. Each drone features:
- Tunnel-vision navigation — BadgerDrones™ negotiate the tightest urban environments by deploying tunnel mode, folding in their propellers to squeeze through narrow spaces
- Digging capabilities — where no direct route is available, BadgerDrones™ simply dig their way to your doorstep
- Weather-resistant fur coating — synthetic badger fur repels water and protects the sensitive electronics underneath
- Natural camouflage — the black and white striped pattern helps our drones blend into urban environments, reducing theft and vandalism
The delivery experience
Receiving a Badger Air delivery is unlike any other delivery experience. On arrival, your BadgerDrone™ will:
- 1
Announce itself
Emitting our signature badger call to alert you to its presence.
- 2
Deliver the package
Gently placing it on your doorstep using its articulated paws.
- 3
Perform a short thank-you dance
Our engineers assure us this is completely necessary.
- 4
Scurry home
Back to the nearest Badger Commerce fulfilment centre, ready for its next delivery.
Competitive advantages
While other companies rely on boring box-shaped drones or traditional delivery methods, Badger Air offers several unique advantages:
- Cuteness factor — our entirely fictional studies show people are 87% less likely to shoot down a drone that resembles a woodland creature
- Low-light operation — like their animal counterparts, BadgerDrones™ excel at night deliveries
- Underground network — we are establishing a series of badger highways beneath major cities, allowing our drones to avoid air traffic entirely
Environmental impact
True to our commitment to sustainability, BadgerDrones™ are 100% electric and carbon neutral. The synthetic fur is biodegradable, and each drone plants wildflower seeds along its journey, creating new pollinator habitats in urban environments.
Beta programme
Starting today, Badger Air begins limited operations in selected neighbourhoods across London. If you see a flying badger carrying a package, do not be alarmed. It is just Badger Commerce delivering the future.
Questions we anticipate
Is this real? Is anything real? But no, especially not this. Happy April Fools' Day from everyone at Badger Commerce.
Will the BadgerDrones™ dig up my garden? Our legal team has advised us not to answer this question.
Are actual badgers involved in this project? Only as consultants. We have partnered with leading badger behaviourists to ensure our drones accurately mimic badger movements and social cues.
How do I sign up? Much as we would love to offer everyone the Badger Air experience, this service exists only in our collective imagination and in this announcement.
The real future of Badger Commerce
Flying badger drones will stay in the realm of April Fools' fantasy. Our plans for the platform will not. Badger Commerce was built to give growing retailers the kind of tooling that used to require an enterprise budget, and it grows through steady development and the feedback of the teams using it.
If you would like to be part of that — as a customer or as a partner — we would like to hear from you. Talk to the team.
Happy April Fools' Day from all of us at Badger Commerce.
No badgers were harmed in the making of this April Fool.
